With every new season – especially spring – comes an opportunity to put a bounce in your step.
In Australia, spring comes around in September and I always look forward to a new burst of energy and motivation to kick my goals to the curb before the year is out.
If you’ve been in a Winter funk, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that you need to go on a mad decluttering rampage, hire a skip, get the kids out of the house for at least a week so you can get sh*t done and purchase a brand new version of everything you own during Spring in order to feel revitalised. But the truth is, to achieve a fresh, energised vibe in your home and life, it doesn’t have to be this onerous or time-consuming! Here’s 6 quirky and simple ways to put a bounce in your step this spring…without having to overhaul your entire life!
// REPLENISH: It’s time to go… you know what!
I’m about to suggest something that you may not necessarily like.. but don’t get your knickers in a knot! Here we go… you know that daggy pair of underwear that’s always been your go-to option for around the house… well it’s time to go, old friend! Spring is the perfect time to go through your underwear draw and assess whether they are keepers or if it’s time for them to make an appearance in ‘underwear heaven’. Trust me, the act of culling – KonMari style – what no longer sparks joy and serves us is an awesome feeling. Updating your bras and underwear is such a simple thing to do. There’s nothing better than slipping into a new set of underwear, which will give you renewed confidence, that no one else needs to know about!
// REFRESH: Bring nature indoors
During Spring, many beautiful flowers and plants are in full bloom. Why not capture the essence of the season by cutting some fresh flowers from your garden or picking up a simple posy from the markets and positioning it front and centre in your living room. And if you’re up for an extra challenge, check out some simple DIY vases. The fragrance of fresh flowers in your home will brighten your mood. If you’re sensitive to flowers, consider introducing a few live indoor plants, which don’t just look great but are incredibly beneficial for our health too. Indoor plants emit oxygen, which improves our sleep, removes toxins from the air and reduces stress. Amazing, right!
// REJUVENATE: Treat yourself!
During Winter, it’s easy to get into the habit of ‘not caring’ for ourselves in the way we deserve. “I’ll get my hair done as soon as this week/month/season is over” – right! Invest in yourself this Spring by buying a new Spring outfit, going to the hairdressers and getting a fresh new look or getting your fingernails and toenails decked out ready for show time! A simple, fun and inexpensive way to introduce a new Spring vibe is to get a new shade of lipstick that will have you feeling and looking alive in seconds! Trust me after this quirky little tip, you’ll have a bounce in your step this spring! For more fun ideas, check out 21 Ways To Create More Me Time!
// REVITALISE – Nurture with nature
Nourish yourself from the inside out this Spring by stocking up on a beautiful variety of fresh, seasonal fruit and vegetables. Why not make a morning of it and hit your local markets up then prepare some gorgeous dishes that are trending this Spring. One of my favourites is egg-free pancakes with seasonal berries from Claire K Creations! Eating an array of stunning spring fruit and vegetables will have you feeling incredible in no time!
// REVAMP – Fresh new looks without the price tag!
If you’re in the mood for revamping your home, less is often best. The first thing you might like to do is to declutter your home the easy way. Once you’ve done this, remember you don’t always have to spend a heap of money in order to achieve the new look you’re wanting to achieve. For example, instead of purchasing a whole new wardrobe, why not share/ rotate outfits with your sisters and friends (or teenage daughters if they’ll let you!). If you are wanting a new piece of furniture, try upcycling things you already have around the home or even scout your local second-hand stores for that signature piece of furniture you’ve been looking for. You could even make your very own macramé hanger!
// REVISIT: Where are you heading?
Spring it the ideal time to refocus, revisit and reset your goals for the remainder of the year and the future. You might like to declutter your mind first. Next, use an app like Life Sorted to schedule a block of time off in your calendar where you can reflect on your goals and assess what has been working and what your new plan of attack is going to be. If you’ve taken the time to set your family goals and vision, Spring can be a great annual check point time to reflect and rework this too, before the chaotic Christmas period is upon us.
Conclusion
Spring is one of my favourite seasons! I hope this list has given you some quirky ways to put a bounce in your step this spring without spending a tonne of time and money.
